Day 37 - The act of giving

Date 07.12.2010

Terrible Tuesdays were back in full force today. I woke up still sore from Sunday and was feeling extremely run down that by the time I got to work I was all wound up I just wanted to go home.

After being 5 mins at work I realised I hadn't been paid for the overtime I had done, the week before.
the words  "right before Christmas " come to mind, I was so annoyed.

I sat there thinking I just want to go home, I'm never going to make it through today.

then I seen that I had my new book order in, sitting on my desk, was a set of Buddhist Prayer cards instantly I calmed down.
Just holding the cards made me relaxed and realise it's just another day and that nothing is that bad after all I will still have enough money to pay all my bills and live for the fortnight.

From then on the day just seemed to get better the team I'm in at work decided for Kris Kringle this year at work we would donate food and toys to the salvation army for underprivileged families.
with all our donations were able to make 5 hampers baskets up for 5 different families.
It was the best thing we could of done, we all walked out of the room and put the hampers under the wish trees with the biggest smiles on our faces, knowing that our money and gifts were going to well needed families.

After work it was off to tea with my family to celebrate my brothers 11th birthday.
What a great day after all.

Sometimes you just need to take the time to relax, stop and think about what you have.
Nothing is as bad as it seems.

  1. I love that you created such a positive day from such a negative beginning. Thats what life is all about. Sometimes you have to search so hard or so deep for inspiration but when you make the effort you can change everything. Your great :-)

I want to learn about buddhism! I don't know much about it but what I have heard so far sounds really positive and philosiphical
